FAQs

What is an IBCLC?

An IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, or a person who specializes in the clinical management of breastfeeding. The IBCLC designation is granted by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners, Inc. and is the only international certification in lactation consulting. While there are other types of lactation consultants, IBCLC’s are considered the “gold standard” of lactation professionals.

Why should I call an IBCLC?

IBCLC’s are the “gold standard” for lactation professionals and a great resource for breastfeeding knowledge and support for all mothers, whether it be your first baby or not. By seeking out an IBCLC before you give birth you are going to be one step ahead (our Prenatal Consults are perfect for this reason). Having a deeper insight into the various breastfeeding positions, as well as, various strategies will help facilitate the breastfeeding experience.

My baby is having feeding issues…How Many Sessions Will I need?

This is a very common question. There is no definitive answer as each baby, mother and feeding situation is unique. The number of appointments needed is depending on the type and complexity of issues. However with the various types of consults available at different price points we will work together to address your individual needs.

Do you charge a travel fee?

Currently, Latch on Babies LLC services Metro-Detroit and the surrounding areas. There is a travel fee for in-home consultations, for both self-pay and The Lactation Network patients.
